The Luís Figo Foundation took children and young people to Óbidos Vila Natal.
This action concluded a series of initiatives promoted by the Foundation to celebrate the festive season, such as the delivery of gifts and food baskets in schools, hospitals, and private social solidarity institutions.
In a partnership with the Óbidos Municipal Council and Óbidos Criativa, last Friday, the Foundation brought fifty children and young people to the Óbidos Vila Natal event for a special and unforgettable day. This initiative also had support from the Almada Municipal Council, which provided a bus for transporting the participants, children, and youth accompanied by Associação Lifeshaker from Monte da Caparica and HipArtHop from Costa da Caparica.
This was the culmination of various initiatives promoted by the Foundation throughout December to celebrate this festive season.
Starting on December 10, the Luís Figo Foundation carried out a Christmas action at Pintor Almada Negreiros Basic School in Alta de Lisboa, which began with a special holiday message from Luís Figo. In a vulnerable socio-economic context, gifts were delivered to 160 children from preschool and primary school, in a day full of entertainment, music, and joy.
The following day, the Luís Figo Foundation continued the tradition with the FLF Christmas Gift Campaign, distributing toys in pediatric wards of several hospitals: in the morning at São Francisco Xavier and in the afternoon at Santa Maria Hospital in Lisbon.
In addition to the joy of seeing the mascots Minnie and Mickey, who were tasked with delivering the gifts, the hospitalized children could enjoy “storytime” by Margarida, the author of the children’s book “A Xica.”
These initiatives were carried out in partnership with Associação Incluir Espinho and FECAPAF from Famalicão.
Christmas gifts also reached other parts of the country, such as Castelo Branco Hospital and Associação Solidário ao Quadrado in Vila Nova de Gaia.
Various entities wanted to join these initiatives by the Luís Figo Foundation through the offering of gifts, including Comansi, RBA Editores, Chanceplus, and Elgorriaga, partners who helped make these moments possible.
December 14 was dedicated to delivering food baskets to 31 households identified by Associação Cova do Mar in Trafaria. The opening was made with a holiday message from Luís Figo, followed by a musical moment with the performance of two young people from Associação Lifeshaker, as a way to promote the talent of the community’s youth.
This was followed by the delivery of food baskets and also gifts to the children, done with the collaboration of FLF volunteers. The day ended with the traditional king cake.
With this support, the Luís Figo Foundation effectively brought food to the Christmas tables of all these families.
December 12, 16, and 17 were reserved for delivering food items such as cereals, milk, and other essential goods like diapers, as well as gifts for babies and children from 41 households assisted by AD Sumus – Association of Immigrants of Almada.
With all these initiatives for socially vulnerable children, young people, and families, the Luís Figo Foundation continues to contribute to improving lives.
Many hundreds of children and several dozen households were supported this special season, thus making this Christmas more fulfilling and joyful.
The Luís Figo Foundation continues with its mission!
