WORLD OBESITY DAY
“Obesity affects 28.7% of Portuguese adults, with more than two-thirds of the population being overweight (67.6%), and 13.5% of children aged 6 to 8 years living with obesity.” – Observador
These newly revealed data are alarming and underscore the importance of projects like “Playing on the Line,” an initiative aimed at promoting healthy lifestyle habits, with a focus on preventing childhood and youth obesity.
This project, promoted by the Luís Figo Foundation, is supervised by the Ministry of Education, through the Directorate-General for Education, and partners with the Egas Moniz School of Health and Science, Porto Editora, and the Almada City Council for its implementation, which takes place in two aspects:
1️⃣ National: A nationwide competition involving public and private schools through the Virtual School platform, covering all educational cycles.
2️⃣ In-person: A pilot project in primary schools in the Almada municipality, with a program focused on activities that promote healthy lifestyle habits and the well-being of children.
Pass it on.
